Dr. Kevin Snipes graduated in 1994 from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN. He is a native of Memphis, and relocated to Louisville in 1996 when he aquired the practice at Oxmoor. On July 1, 2010 he aquired the practice at the Jefferson Mall.
During his externships in 1993 he spent 6 months at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, where he had the good fortune to work with the Thunderbird Pilots. He has been recognized as a leader in fitting multifocal contact lenses. He was the first practioner in the Louisville area to utilize the Optomap Retinal Scanning technology. He has three sons, Andy, Zach and Josh. They live in Oldham county in the Goshen area. Dr. Snipes is also a Kentucky Colonel.
Dr. Julie May was raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. She did undergraduate work at Indiana University receiving an Associate of Science Degree in Optometric Technology. She was accepted to Indiana University School of Optometry where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Optometry and taught Basic Optics Laboratory to incoming technology students. She received her Doctor of Optometry degree in 2001, certified in diagnostic and therapeutic medical eye treatment.
Dr. May completed externships at Eye Surgeons of Indiana, Fort Knox, and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base where she received a Civilian Certificate of Appreciation. She fit glasses and contacts at Union Optical in Bedford, IN and was trained in refractive and cataract surgery co-management at Ohio Valley Eye Institute in Evansville, IN.
Dr. May practices primary eye care at the Jefferson Mall location and lives in Louisville with her husband, Curt, and their three sons.
Dr. Martorana attended the University of Kentucky for undergraduate studies. He then attended the University of Missouri -St. Louis, College of Optometry where he obtained his Doctor of Optometry degree with Honors. While on his rotations during his fourth year of optometry school Dr. Martorana experienced a wide range of clinical settings and specialties including: ocular disease, family practice, pediatrics, and specialty contact lens. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, Kentucky Optometric Association and the American Academy of Optometry where he is currently a candidate for fellowship.
Dr. Martorana was born in St. Louis, MO, however having moved to Louisville at age 12 he considers himself a Louisvillian. He lives in St. Matthews with his wife Theresa and their dog Ella. Together they enjoy spending time with their families and exploring all Louisville has to offer including the beautiful park systems and the many local restaurants that Louisville affords.
